The past few days have been beautiful and we spent all weekend on the water chasing Speckled Trout and Redfish.
Gerard and I hit the water Saturday morning searching for Trout.
We launched just as the sun was rising and made our way to an area we hadn’t visited in a while.
As we approached the area we could see bait fish running for their lives and knew we had found the Trout.
Gerard was instantly hooked up and landed the first fish. It turned out to be a healthy 18″ Speckled Trout.
The next several casts resulted in several keeper Trout. They couldn’t resist the Egret Baits Vudu Eel.
After catching our limits of Speckled Trout we pushed on in search of Redfish.
After locating them on a super shallow flat we attempted to sight fish for them and we failed!
It happens, the fish were super shallow, easily spooked, and just didn’t care to eat.
Gerard knew the fish were out in front of him so he sat down and started working the area.
A few casts later and he was hooked to a nice slot Redfish.
While attempting to take a photo, Gerard dropped the Redfish in the water!!!
Cold hands and slippery fish don’t always get along. Use your fish grips and these mistakes won’t happen to you.
We pressed on in search of the third species and it didn’t take very long.
As we found the Trout we stumbled into the Hybrids and Gerard finished off his first ever River Slam.
It was a beautiful morning on the water.
The fish were biting and the weather was significantly warmer than it has been lately.
This is going to be a fantastic week on the water!!!
