Doug and Family – 10/26/2017

Navarre, Destin, and Pensacola, Florida Weekly Fishing Reports

Doug reached out a few months back and was interested in scheduling an Offshore Kayak Fishing Charter.

Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey hit Houston and Doug postponed his vacation.

He reached out last week and informed me that he would be in town this week and was interested in fishing inshore.

He wanted his wife and his father in law to enjoy a day on the water.

We spoke on and off throughout the week and picked a day.

Tom wanted us to fish in a protected area so that the family could enjoy a relaxing day and catch a few fish.

We decided to meet at the water around 9AM and avoid the cold weather.

Shortly after 9AM we were on the water and chasing Speckled Trout.

The three of them caught small Trout fairly quickly but we were on the hunt for dinner.

We moved on to an area that was holding plenty of bait and it wasn’t long before Tamara was hooked to a Bull Redfish.

The fish picked up a soft plastic a few feet from the kayak and screamed across a shallow flat.

After a great fight that fish slipped into the net.  Tamara was disappointed when I told her it was to big to keep!

Tamara watched her swim off and went back to fishing.

Her father was up next and this time it was good enough to become dinner.

The three took turn catching keeper Speckled Trout.

A little while later Tom was hooked up again and this time it was a beautiful slot Redfish.

After tossing the Redfish in the fish bag we were off to chase more Trout.

Doug found a few in a row to include this healthy slot.

Doug, Tom, and Tamara had an excellent day on the water and I look forward to seeing them next year.

They will be eating well for the next few days.

Kayak fishing is a fantastic way to spend time on vacation.  The experience is one of a kind and we go out of our way to make sure it’s something you will never forget.
