Inshore

October is one of the best months to go kayak fishing along the Emerald Coast.

The water temperatures are dropping, the Flounder are on the move, the Trout are flooding the flats, and the Redfish are crushing topwater.

October provides anglers from all over the country their best chance at completing an Inshore Slam.

What’s an Inshore Grand Slam?  It varies throughout the country, but here in Northwest Florida it involves catching three species; Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder.

Checkout “The Inshore Grand Slam.”

Offshore

The King Mackerel bite was amazing throughout September and will remain fantastic going into October.

There have been a variety of Pelagics caught the past few weeks, October provides the best chance to land Blackfin Tuna, Mahi-Mahi, and Sailfish.

We head off the beach at first light, catch live bait, and troll a variety of depths looking for the fish of a lifetime.

After trolling, we stop and spend a few minutes catching Triggerfish and Red Snapper.

Triggerfish is open throughout October and is delicious!

The Speckled Trout bite has been great the past few weeks and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

We have been catching them on 1/8 ounce jig heads and 3″ soft plastic lures in 3-4′ of water.

Sight fishing for them is an amazing experience!

Clients from all over the country have had success on our Inshore Kayak Fishing Charters and always come back for more.

August is here and so is the heat!

The offshore trips have been very successful and Triggerfish opens August 1st.

Red Snapper Season | Opening Day 2018

Red Snapper Season

Red Snapper Season | Opening Day 2018

Recreational Red Snapper season opened in Florida today.

As normal the weather was all over the place.

My alarm went off and I double checked the weather.

There was an opening and decided to make the best of it!

I loaded everything up and drove out to the beach.

I could hear the waves from the parking lot and walked down to investigate.

The surf wasn’t as bad as expected but the wind was moving out of the West.

I stood around for a few minutes debating on whether or not I was going to make the pedal.

Derrick Benton arrived at the beach and we decided it was worth the launch.

We went separate ways once pass the surf.

The current was moving very quickly for the Gulf of Mexico and I knew it would make the fishing a little difficult.

Conditions were far from ideal!

After a choppy pedal south I was on top of the fish and ready to catch dinner.

It wasn’t long before the first fish was in the kayak!

The current/wind was pushing me East at roughly 3MPH.

I pedaled back on top of the spot several times before I decided it was time to go home.

I was back on the beach at 730AM and off to work.

Hurlburt Field Outdoor Recreation Center | Navarre Kayak Fishing

This weekend we ran the first of several scheduled trips for the Hurlburt Field Outdoor Recreation Center.

All active duty members are eligible to sign-up and spots fill quickly.

If you’re interested please call/visit the Hurlburt Marina for additional information.

Saturday morning we took four active duty members out for a relaxing day on the water.

These trips are designed to be easy going and our main goal is to enjoy the time on the water.

Oh ya, and catch a few fish!

We launched into the Santa Rosa Sound around 6AM.

The sun was up and there were plenty of people on the water.

The weather was gorgeous and it seemed that no one was going to miss the opportunity.

Three out of the four were able to land Speckled Trout up to 18″ and had a blast.

What’s Biting – May | Navarre Kayak Fishing

Offshore water temperatures will reach 70 degrees this week and kick off Summer.  Continue reading What’s Biting – May and let us help you catch more fish!

Offshore

We begin running Offshore Kayak Fishing Charters in May and we spent this past weekend doing a little scouting.

On Sunday, we decided to launch early, check for bait, and run south to check on the Triggerfish and Red Snapper.

Red Snapper

The Red Snapper population is booming off of Navarre Beach, Florida.

We checked five bottom spots and all of them were loaded with fish.

Red Snapper season opens on June 11th and closes on July 20th.

Don’t wait until the last minute to schedule your trip!

Triggerfish

The Triggerfish were plentiful and the season is currently open.

If you would like to get off of the beach and attempt to catch one, let us know!

Small hooks, fluorocarbon, and squid will get the job done.

Mackerel

The Spanish and Kings have been showing up at the piers and it won’t be long before they are everywhere.

As the temperatures increase, cigar minnows will show up in numbers.

Our next seminar will focus on targeting King Mackerel!

Inshore

The Redfish and Speckled Trout have been feeding well throughout the bay systems.

Soft plastics and topwater lures have been getting the job done.

If you’re having trouble targeting Redfish check out this article:

Always Throw Topwater

Always Throw Topwater

“Always Throw Topwater” | Navarre Kayak Fishing

Why is our latest apparel design named “Always Throw Topwater?”

Pre-order it here – https://navarrekayakfishing.com/product/pre-order-navarre-kayak-fishing-performance-att/

It’s simple, you should always be ready to throw topwater.

A topwater lure is an excellent search bait and it allows you to locate fish quickly.

When I launch in a new area I’m going to throw topwater until I see signs of life.

A topwater lure might not always be the right lure, but it is a lure that gets the attention of everything in the area.

The lure might spook a bunch of bait or it might peak the interest of a Redfish or Trout.

Once you find the first fish, you can slow down and work the area with a variety of lures.

As always, we appreciate your support and hope you like our newest design.

We use six Old Town Predator PDL’s on a day to day basis.

We use them to run our kayak business and have complete faith in the product.

In 2017, I personally fished from an Old Town Predator PDL over 25o times.

I’ve had the opportunity to use the kayak in a huge variety of conditions, from Inshore to Offshore.

The PDL is a fantastic platform.
